Here are 10 tips to help you live a healthy life

How to live a healthy life

We live in a fast paced world, where we don’t get enough sleep and smoke cigarettes. We don't take care of our body's health properly.

If you are working full time, it can be difficult to keep a healthy diet and exercise regimen. It's even harder when you are stressed because your mind tells you that you cannot handle the situation anymore. So we feel guilty and give up.

It is possible that your body is experiencing problems. You should see a doctor and ask him/her what he/she thinks about your current condition. If there is nothing abnormal, then it might just be stress from your job.

Some people think that they are lucky because their jobs allow them to go to gym regularly or they have some friends who help them to keep fit. These people are truly lucky. Those people don’t have any problems. They had everything under control. I wish that everyone could be like them. Unfortunately, many of us don’t know how to manage our personal and work lives. Bad habits can lead to heart disease, diabetes, and other diseases.

These are some tips to help you improve your life.

  1. Get enough sleep, minimum 7 hours, maximum 8 hours. This includes good sleeping habits and avoiding caffeine for the last hour before bed. Caffeine blocks melatonin hormones, making it difficult to fall asleep. You should also ensure that your bedroom has a dark, clean environment. Blackout curtains are a must, especially if you work late at nights.
  2. Eat well - Have breakfast every morning. Avoid sugary foods, fried foods, processed foods, and white breads. Include fruits, vegetables, and whole grain for lunch. You should eat healthy afternoon snacks that are high in protein. These include nuts, seeds beans, legumes, fish, cheese, and dairy products. Avoid junk food like chips, candies and cakes.
  3. Drink lots of water. We don't have enough. Water can help us burn more calories, keep our skin supple and young, flush out toxins and improve our digestion. Drinking six glasses of water daily will help you lose weight faster. The best way of determining your hydration is to check the color in your urine. Yellow means dehydrated; orange means slightly dehydrated; pink means normal; red means overhydrated; and clear means highly-overhydrated.
  4. Exercise - It has been proven that regular physical activity can improve energy levels and reduce depression. Walking is an easy way to improve your mood. Although walking may seem simple, it is not easy. It requires concentration and effort. Walking requires your brain to be focused on the task at hand, and you need to breathe slowly and deeply. A brisk walk for 30 minutes can burn between 100 and 150 calories. Start slow and build up gradually. Stretching after exercise is important to avoid injury.
  5. Positive thinking is important for mental well-being. Positive thinking creates a positive environment within ourselves. Negative thoughts can drain energy and cause anxiety. Focus on what you want and do the things that will keep you motivated. Reduce the number of tasks you have to do in order to feel less overwhelmed. Be aware that you will fail at times, but don't despair. Just get back up and start over.
  6. Say No. We can often be so busy that it is hard to see how much of our time we are wasting on useless tasks. It is important to be able to say No when needed. Not saying "no" is rude. It is just saying no. You will always find another way to do the job. You should set limits. Ask for help. This work can be delegated to someone else.
  7. Take care your body. Keep track of what you eat. You can boost your metabolism by eating healthier foods. You should avoid eating too many oily and heavy foods, as they tend to increase cholesterol. It is a good idea to eat three meals and two snacks per day. Your daily calories should range from 2000 to 2500.
  8. Meditation can be a great stress relief and can help reduce anxiety. You can relax your mind by simply sitting still with your closed eyes. This exercise will give you clarity of thought, which is very helpful in reaching decisions. Meditation regularly can make you happier and more calm.
  9. Breakfast is the most important meal you should eat each day. Skipping breakfast may lead to overeating during lunchtime. You don't have to wait until noon to enjoy a healthy breakfast. Breakfast boosts energy and helps to manage hunger.
  10. Eat clean food - Food affects our moods more than we know. Avoid junk food and any food products that contain artificial ingredients or preservatives. These foods make your body feel acidic, and can trigger cravings. Vitamins and minerals found in fruits and vegetables can improve your overall health.
